On the south of the eastern continent, in is a small, land-locked region, flanked by a large forked river on two sides surrounded by a forest around the rest, an offshoot of dwarves has marked the area as their own. Separated from their mountain-dwelling cousins several generations ago, they have adapted to life above ground. Much of the economy of Ostanovit is directed towards their military, which they use freely, slowly expanding their territory each year, with outposts guarding massive bridges used to take supplies and troops across the river Prolivnoy to their villages in their expanded territory.
The ancestors of these dwarves left their mountain homes in Budynsky centuries ago due to a disagreement as to how the dwarven people should react to the newly-encountered humans. While most felt the newcomers should be dealt with friendly but cautiously, some thought the humans were an abomination. Militantly opposed to contact with humans, these dwarves began an exodus to a place they could use as a starting point to establish dwarvish dominion over the “lesser race.” Future encounters with other races only strengthened their resolve to “reconquer” their native mountains from what they perceived as weak-willed capitulators.
